BRR…It’s cold out here.
Well folks, the Groundhog saw his shadow. That’s right. Six more weeks of winter ahead. Winter can be a challenging time to stay motivated, with the colder weather, shorter days, and longer nights. However, it’s important to maintain motivation during this time, as it can help you achieve your goals and stay on track. Here are some tips for staying motivated during the winter:
Set Realistic Goals:
Winter can be a challenging time to achieve big goals, so it’s important to set smaller, achievable goals that you can work towards. These goals can be related to your personal or professional life, but they should be specific, measurable, and realistic. Here is a cute graphic that you can print out, hang up and keep you on track!
Get Outdoors:
Even though it’s cold, bundle up and get outdoors. Taking a walk or enjoying the scenery can help clear your head and give you a mental boost.
Exercise Regularly:
Exercise is a great way to stay motivated during the winter. It can help boost your mood and give you more energy. A lot of gyms are still running specials deal for the beginning of the year. There are also some awesome resources on YouTube for FREE. One of my favorites is BodyFit by Amy. Check out her channel here.
Make Time For Yourself:
Take some time to relax and do something you enjoy. This could include reading a book, taking a bath, or doing a craft. Don’t under estimate the power of a few minutes all to yourself. As a mom of 3 little kids, I am NEVER alone. Not even in the bathroom. There are some days when all I want is warm sunshine on my face and fresh air in my lungs. However, in the winter, the sun is elusive and the air is so cold that it hurts to breathe it into my lungs.
Time for myself in the winter looks like listening to a podcast while soaking in a hot bath. It looks like shutting the room to my bedroom and watching a show all alone. It looks like baking a batch of cookies after the kids go to bed and eating as much of the cookie dough that I want. Regardless, it is time just for me.
Stay Connected with Others:
It’s easy to feel isolated during the winter months, so it’s important to stay connected with others. This can mean scheduling regular phone or video calls with friends and family, or joining a winter sports league or social club. Gather your people and throw a little party. It can be for no reason at all! And if you DO decide to host a shindig, call us here at TFT. We can hook up with a frozen drink machine and take your party from “good” to GREAT.
We can make it!
I know it’s hard, y’all. Staying motivated during the winter requires some extra effort and self-care, but it’s definitely achievable. By setting realistic goals, prioritizing self-care, finding a winter hobby, staying connected with others, embracing the season, and visualizing your success, you can stay motivated and achieve your goals, no matter the weather. Soon enough, Spring will be here and the sun will shine again!
