7 Ways to Celebrate Easter this Year

Happy Spring! What a glorious time of year (minus all of the pollen and allergies). One of my favorite holidays is just around the corner. EASTER. Easter represents renewal, rebirth, and hope. It is a day to celebrate the victory of Jesus over sin and death, and the promise of new life and eternal salvation. What better way to celebrate than with family and friends? Here are 7 ways to celebrate Easter this year.

1. Visit a Local Church

Attend a church service or participate in a religious activity that focuses on the religious significance of Easter. Most local churches have special services this time of year. If you do not attend church regularly, this is a great opportunity to visit a church in your area.

2. Easter Egg Hunt

Organize an Easter egg hunt in your backyard or at a local park for kids and adults alike. Other local business or parks or churches may be hosting large egg hunts in your community. Ask around or google it. I am sure you can find an Easter egg hunt near you!

3. Spring Picnic

Celebrate the arrival of spring with a picnic in a park or your backyard. Make Easter-themed snacks like deviled eggs, carrot sticks, and Easter Bunny-shaped cookies. Deviled eggs are always on our heavenly easter menu. Here is the traditional recipe that I always use: Deviled eggs.

4. Easter Bruch

Host an Easter brunch with family and friends. Serve classic brunch dishes like quiches, pancakes, waffles, and fresh fruit. Don’t forget to decorate the table with Easter-themed centerpieces and tablecloths. Here is my favorite homemade waffle recipe: WAFFLES.

To really bring your brunch up a notch, how about a frozen drink machine rental? A great brunch cocktail: a screwdriver. Orange flavor and vodka. We’ve got you covered at Texas Frozen Tropics. Check us out!’

5. Easter Crafts

Get creative with Easter-themed crafts like making Easter baskets, painting Easter eggs, and creating Easter decorations for your home. Here are some fun Easter crafts for the kids I found for you to try.

6. Nature Walk

Take a nature walk and enjoy the beauty of spring. Look for signs of new life, like blooming flowers and baby animals. Check out some of your local parks and see if they have any hiking trails. The Azalea trail in my college town of Nacogdoches, Texas was one of my favorite places to take a stroll this time of year.

7. Easter Traditions

Carry on Easter traditions that have been passed down through generations in your family, like baking hot cross buns, dyeing Easter eggs, or making Easter bread.

My favorite Easter tradition, hands down, is reading the Easter story from my grandmother’s bible. There is nothing more precious than reading from the Bible that my grandmother had from the time she was a young woman. Looking at her faded notes crammed into the margins of the pages brings joy to my soul and tears to my eyes. Passing on our faith to my own children is such a privilege. I hope they will do the same with their own children one day.

As we enter in to the Spring season, I hope you will make time to enjoy the new life it brings. Spend time with your loved ones. Soak in the nice weather before the heat of summer arrives. As always, thanks for reading along. Happy Easter!
