I don’t know about you, but the evening of Halloween is always a little chaotic at my house. One of the most challenging parts of Halloween for me since having kids is making sure they are fed a proper dinner before heading out for trick-or-treating. Dinner before is necessary because otherwise…EPIC meltdowns occur. Last year, we started a fun tradition of making a spooky dinner before going out to collect our candy. This is a great “mom-hack” to trick those kids into eating dinner when all they have is CANDY on the brain.
When planning your Halloween dinner, be mindful to KEEP IT SIMPLE. There are no awards handed out for “most time spent in the kitchen.” This is meant to be fun and easy. Here is what I am planning on making this year:
I am no chef. I am just a regular mom trying to be a cool mom. I will go ahead and help you out by posting the recipes I am going to use to help me execute this Spooky Supper.
Here’s a tip: Skillet fry those hot dogs in a little butter and Tobasco sauce before you wrap them. It makes for an even more delicious hot dog and gives it a little kick. I also skip the cheese that this recipe calls for.
Obviously, this would be great if you have time to make it. However, there is a 95% chance I will be buying Velveeta Shells and Cheese and putting about 20 drops of green food coloring in that pot. No shame. I am a mom of 3. Compromises must be made.
How cute are these? The recipe calls for peanut butter but you could totally substitute the peanut butter with Nutella or a different nut butter if you want.
Trust me on this one: the kiddos go crazy for Goosebumps punch. This is another recipe you can play around with. It is easy to change the flavor/color of the punch by switching up the food color you choose and/or the sherbet flavor you use. Let your imagination go wild.
Happy Halloween, Witches. May your bellies be full and your children be on their best behavior!
